Under the resolution, anticipated revenues total $6,278,082, leaving taxes to be levied of $22,459,677 (General Fund taxes listed as $21,755,509). The board directed the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary to advertise the tentative budget in the Asbury Park Press as required by state law.
The board also resolved to withdraw $3,400,000 from the Capital Reserve — labeled “Other Capital Projects” in the budget — to fund a full HVAC replacement in kind and LED lighting upgrades as part of a Direct Install Project. The resolution notes these projects go beyond the facilities efficiency standards determined by the State Commissioner to meet New Jersey Learning Standards.
The Business Administrator presented the financials that accompanied the recommendation, including the March 14, 2025 bill lists showing total expenditures of $608,648.97 and payroll on March 14 of $612,707.90 (combined total expenditures $1,221,356.87 reflected in the meeting materials).
The same motion package included a $32,000 withdrawal from the Maintenance Reserve for required maintenance activities pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-14.2(d) and a proposed travel and related expense maximum of $89,899 for the 2025–2026 year (noting $27,157 had been expended to date in the current year).
Board President Mrs. McGinty called the meeting to order; the board approved Finance items, including the tentative budget and reserve withdrawals, on a motion that passed by unanimous roll-call vote (Mr. Dougherty, Mrs. Kiley, Mrs. Romano, Mr. Grant, Mrs. McGinty, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Hickey, Mr. Page, Mrs. Whitehouse voting Yes).
A public hearing on the tentative budget will be held April 29, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons, 74 Ridge Road, Rumson.
