The Negaunee Public Schools Board approved several facilities and operations actions at its Nov. 24 meeting, including a boiler contract for Negaunee Middle School, electrical repairs at the bus garage, and an increase to the district's mechanic service billing rate.
By motion of Dave Paananen, supported by Amy Clickner, the board approved United Contractors Inc.'s bid to install a new boiler at Negaunee Middle School; the minutes record the contract amount as $88,870 and board members discussed the project timeline and schedule.
The board also approved a quote from J.P. Electric for bus garage electrical repairs with an estimated cost range of $10,750 to $11,750 (motion by Amy Clickner, supported by Martin Saari). Board member Dave Paananen asked that the board verify whether MBLP is fulfilling responsibility for the meter point tied to that work.
After what the minutes describe as a lengthy discussion, the board adjusted the mechanic service billing rate to $110 per hour (motion by Greg Toutant, supported by Todd Saunders), noting the current rate had been in place since 2007 and asking that billed rates be reviewed annually going forward. The board also approved pay rates for event workers as presented.
All listed motions for these facilities and operations items passed unanimously, 7-0. The board did not record any further amendments at the meeting.
