The Negaunee Public Schools Board of Education on Nov. 24 approved the district's 2024-25 financial audit and voted to pay the district's October bills totaling $437,264.45.
Lindsey Besonen of Anderson, Tackman and Company, P.L.C., presented the audit and reported an unmodified opinion, indicating that in the firm's sampled transactions the district complied with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Following the presentation, the board moved to accept the audit; the motion (made by board member Greg Toutant and seconded by Amy Clickner) passed 7-0.
The board then approved payment of the October 2025 bills by motion of Greg Toutant, seconded by Martin Saari; that motion also carried 7-0. Michelle LaMere, the district business manager, presented the October financial reports and there were no questions from the board.
School officials characterized the audit result as evidence of good financial standing. The board did not request additional review items at the meeting. The district continues budgeting and procurement work for planned capital projects described elsewhere on the agenda.
