The Negaunee Public Schools Board approved several sinking-fund projects and a furniture purchase at the July 21 meeting.
By a 6-0 vote the board approved A&F's $19,665 quote to replace the Lakeview gym corridor ceiling and Frailing Electric's $26,646 quote for additional lighting and a new lighting control panel at Miners Stadium. During discussion a board member asked whether the City of Negaunee has lighting ordinances that would affect the new stadium fixtures; Superintendent Andy Skewis said he would look into the matter and report back.
Separately, the board approved a $33,290.67 quote from Custer to supply and install office furniture in the new high school and administrative offices; that motion also carried 6-0.
These purchases will be funded from the sinking fund and were presented as part of scheduled facility upgrades ahead of the school year.
