Select Board appoints student to Board of Registrars, approves elections policies and approves post-prom late hours

The motion to appoint Raja (moved by Vice Chair Alexis Leahy and seconded by Richard Dalton) passed unanimously.
The Board also accepted David Palumbo's application to serve as an alternate on the Historical Commission; the motion to appoint Palumbo as an alternate through June 30, 2028 passed unanimously.
On election administration, Town Clerk Stephanie Jarosz asked the Board to allow Vote by Mail for the April 2026 Town Election, to provide one day of in-person early voting on Friday, April 3, 2026 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 55 Summer Street), and to delegate certain authorities: to the Chief of Police (in consultation with the Town Clerk) the authority under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 92, Section 7 (Votes Act of 2022) to detail officers to polling locations for order and security, and to the Town Clerk the authority to appoint and assign poll workers. The Board affirmed each motion by roll call (Leahy, Dalton, Crawford — all yes).
For community events, Charlotte Woods, general manager of Market Street, explained a request for Kings to close at 2:00 a.m. on April 10 to host a Lynnfield High School post-prom (alcohol service to the general public would cease at 10:00 p.m.). The Board granted the extended closing time; vote unanimous.
What this means: The appointments fill vacancies and the election motions set the town's procedures for the April election, including an abbreviated in-person early-voting day and delegated authority for police details and poll-worker appointments. The late-closing permit is a one-night exception tied to the school's post-prom event.
