The Saddle Brook Board of Education recognized a group of students as "Exemplary Falcons" during its regular meeting, citing leadership, academic effort and service across the district.
Superintendent Mrs Violetti introduced the program and said she was proud to honor the students at the board meeting: "I am very proud of both of you and I've not surprised at all to see you being honored as an exemplary Falcon," she told students and families in attendance.
Staff members read nominations for each student before calling them forward for a photo. Students acknowledged included Ashley Asera (noted for drive, organization and leadership), Deanna Turbas (recognized for leadership and reliability), Clara (recognized for academic rigor and community involvement), Susanna (praised for energy and empathy), Julia (commended for public speaking and extracurricular leadership) and Aaya (honored for school pride and consistent service). Teachers highlighted examples such as classroom leadership, participation in AP coursework, work at Bergen Community College courses and peer mentoring.
The recognitions were short and celebratory: each student received a 'Falcon of the Week' shirt, posed for a group photo with board members and then the board took a five-minute recess to accommodate the photo session and short break.
The presentation was followed by routine business. The board noted the recognitions as part of broader district engagement efforts that include parent partnership nights and community events.
