At its April 29 meeting the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board approved multiple personnel actions, affirmed a bullying/harassment (HIB) decision from a prior meeting, and established an Affirmative Action Team charged with developing an equity plan across 2025–2028.
Personnel actions: On a motion by Mr. Grant, seconded by Mrs. Whitehouse, the board approved Personnel Items #2–5, which included new faculty appointments pending paperwork. The agenda lists Elizabeth English as Assistant Principal for Athletics and Student Activities, effective July 1, 2025, with a stated salary of $144,965. The board also approved listed resignations (examples: Alex Cafiero, Physics Teacher, effective July 1, 2025; Leigh Clapp, Paraprofessional, effective April 26, 2025), a retirement (Carrie Doremus, Paraprofessional, effective July 1, 2025), and coaching/advisor appointments (e.g., Brooke Tartis, softball assistant coach). The motion passed by unanimous roll-call vote.
Discipline and student services: The board approved Education Items 22–24 on a motion by Mr. Page, seconded by Mr. Grant; those items included approval of field trips, home instruction for a student for April, and affirmation of the Superintendent’s recommendation on HIB Investigation FY 2024-2025-4 (the board voted to affirm the prior recommendation from the April 8 meeting).
Policy action: The Board approved creation of the District’s Affirmative Action Team to develop a needs assessment and comprehensive equity plan for 2025–2028; named members included Seth Herman (Affirmative Action Officer and Supervisor), Chris Lanzalotto (Assistant Principal), Lauren Malaney (Supervisor) and Kristen Lanfrank (Teacher/Parent/Community Member). The motion to approve Policy Item #25 was made by Mr. Grant and seconded by Mr. Dougherty and passed unanimously.
What this means: The personnel approvals populate leadership and instructional roles for 2025–26, the HIB affirmation closes an item from earlier in April, and the new Affirmative Action Team initiates a multi-year planning process for equity and compliance with district and state requirements.
The meeting recorded no public comment during the general public-comment period and adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
