Board approves emergency remote‑instruction plan, Spain immersion trip and affirms HIB decision

The Rumson‑Fair Haven board on July 8 approved several education items for 2025–26: an Emergency Virtual Remote Instruction Plan, a World Language immersion trip to Spain scheduled for Oct. 31–Nov. 10, 2025, and affirmation of a superintendent‑level HIB (harassment, intimidation and bullying) investigation decision previously reported on June 19.
The board also voted to suspend the portion of Policy #2340 (Field Trips) that requires a school nurse to attend the Spain trip, specifically the policy language referenced in the agenda. The suspension was limited to the listed trip and included dates of travel. The trip and the policy suspension were presented together on the agenda as part of Education Item #17.
On a motion by Mrs. Whitehouse and seconded by Mr. Page the board approved Education Items #16–#18 by roll call. The minutes show the approvals with board members present voting yes and Mr. Dougherty recorded as n/a in some roll‑call entries. The HIB decision was affirmed as recommended by the superintendent and was listed as Education Item #18.
