Negaunee board elects 2026 officers, sets pay and committee assignments

Todd Saunders was elected Board president, Dave Paananen vice president, Amy Clickner secretary and Fae Collins treasurer during the Negaunee Public Schools Board of Education’s annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 19, 2026. All officer motions passed unanimously, 6-0.
The Board formalized member compensation at $30.00 per meeting for up to 52 meetings, to be paid annually, citing Board Policy #2306. Board members also approved committee assignments for 2026 with one change: Dave Paananen replaces Pat Thomson on the Athletic Committee.
Directives to support district operations were approved without dissent. The Board named Range Bank, Honor Credit Union, Embers Credit Union and the Michigan Liquid Asset Fund as official depositories; that motion carried 5-0 with President Todd Saunders recorded as abstaining due to a conflict of interest. The Board appointed the Superintendent as the primary check signatory, the Business Manager as second authorized signatory and the Treasurer as third. The Business Manager, Michelle LaMere, was also appointed the district’s Electronic Transfer Officer.
The Board adopted its regular 2026 meeting schedule — generally the third Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Negaunee High School Library — and corrected the May regular meeting date to May 18. The Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent was designated to post meeting notices. All procedural motions passed 6-0 except where abstention was recorded for conflict of interest.
The Board will next convene as scheduled; the District posts any location changes to its website.
