New Lothrop board approves bills, facility bids, iPads and LED lighting; accepts stadium donation

Board member Adam Green presented bills totaling $1,199,869.02 (general fund $1,141,381.47; school service $58,487.55). The board voted to approve payment of bills (motion by Ashley Krupp, seconded by Joseph Toma) and accepted the monthly financial report showing an ending balance of $2,473,404.89 (motion by Richard White, seconded by Tim Birchmeier); both motions passed 7-0.
On capital projects and purchases, the board took the following actions: • Approved a crack-seal bid for district parking lots from Hutch Paving for $8,985 (motion by Tim Birchmeier; carried 7-0). • Approved purchase of 55 iPads from Apple Store for Education for $17,845 to be paid from the General Fund (motion by Ashley Krupp; carried 7-0). • Approved LED lighting for the elementary building from Symons Electric not to exceed $48,612.18, to be paid from Sinking Fund, bond capital projects and General Fund (motion by Adam Green; Tim Birchmeier abstained; motion carried 6-0). • Accepted a $6,000 donation from Signature Home Pros for the football stadium sound system (motion by Adam Green; Richard White abstained; motion carried 6-0).
The board also approved personnel items including the retirement of certified preschool aide Diana Dunn effective June 1, 2025 and the hire of full-time evening custodian Nick Andres effective April 2, 2025. Several policy updates were moved forward with a first reading of the Neola Spring 2025 policy packet. The board concluded business and entered closed sessions later in the evening for pending litigation and negotiations.
