Staff recognize board for School Board Recognition Month; district gives student, testing and athletics updates

Staff members acknowledged the board during School Board Recognition Month at the Jan. 6 New Lothrop Area Public Schools board meeting. Wayne Wright recognized board members for their time and commitment; staff (Kim Kuchar and Drew Severn) presented the board with a gift and thanked members for their service.
Kim Kuchar recognized elementary students Carter Cookingham and Gannon Mills for acts of kindness and noted three new elementary students started that day; she said she interviewed for an open one-on-one aide position and that the rescheduled Pride assembly/staff vs. students basketball game will be held Jan. 17. Drew Severn recognized Hornet of the Month students in attendance, said Delta Math/i-Ready assessment window 2 will begin next week, and noted exams postponed by the Dec. 20 snow day were scheduled for Jan. 7. Severn also reported varsity wrestling placements at the Hastings Tournament and listed upcoming events, including hosting individual districts on Feb. 8 and boys basketball district games on Feb. 24, 26 and 28.
Wayne Wright said Feb. 12 will be the second count day of the year, that the state’s annual revenue and consensus hearing is Jan. 10, and that staff will bring a budget revision to the board in the near term; he also noted a staff luncheon canceled by the snow day was rescheduled for Jan. 20 from 12:15–1:15 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
