At the March 17 Salem City Common Council meeting, several residents used the public comment period to raise neighborhood concerns and offer support for local investment.
Gail Nazarene of Alloway introduced herself as a new Salem County resident and said she is interested in supporting Salem City and attracting new investors. George Reese thanked the mayor and council for issuing a proclamation honoring his father’s birthday. Dawn Puni of Salem urged the council to address speeding vehicles in her neighborhood and asked whether speed bumps could be installed. Janis Crawford of Salem raised concerns about two vacant houses on York Street and the amount of trash outside those properties. Andrea Davis of Elsinboro offered ideas for the city and expressed interest in supporting local efforts.
Councilman C. Loatman asked earlier in the meeting about stop‑sign installation on Oak Street; City Administrator/Clerk Ben Angeli told the council the signs should be installed soon. The public comment period closed with no immediate council action recorded on the individual requests; the minutes indicate the council moved into an executive session later in the meeting and then adjourned.
The comments provide local officials with community concerns that may be directed to public works, code enforcement or police for follow‑up.
