Resident questions why board member linked to a past teachers' "no confidence" vote remains negotiations chair

During the meetings public-comment period, a resident identified as Asmini (of 8 Eugene Drive) directly questioned board leadership and transparency, asking why a board member who had been the subject of a teachers' vote of no confidence in 2024 remains listed as chair of the negotiations committee.

"I was wondering given how vocal you were about the fact that there was a vote of no confidence why you would still put that person to be the chair of negotiations, have you had a change of heart? is that person owed an apology given how adamant you were..." Asmini asked.

The speakers remarks tied into broader concerns raised later in the meeting about committee notes and whether personal matters involving board members were discussed in committee meetings. One public commenter referenced the auditors report to note the districts healthy reserves (more than $3 million mentioned in the comment) and asked how the board planned to prepare for approved housing projects.

Another attendee, Ron Wagy of Tower River, suggested the borough should pursue revenue-sharing provisions in any pilot agreement for the 20-22 East Allenale senior housing project to help offset development impacts on the district.

A board member later responded to a commenter by reminding a former board member about ethical boundaries and cautioned against discussing certain internal conversations in public comment.
