Planning commission favors Byhalia-style gateway sign, staff to seek pricing

City Planner Brett Morgan presented three lightweight, breakaway gateway sign prototypes and said the signs would be manufactured by Foamcraft with installation by Signs and Stuff. The commission discussed size, materials and mounting in the public right-of-way and the need for breakaway features for safety.
Vice-Chairman Bob Archer said the commission's consensus favored the Byhalia sign example shown during the presentation and asked staff to obtain pricing and return with cost and sizing information. Morgan said he would collect size/dimension details, get cost estimates and report back to the commission.
No formal motion to approve purchase or installation was made; the item was continued for cost information and final decision at a later meeting.
