Board hears personnel updates and budget/audit timeline; minimum wage change noted

Administrators briefed the Saddle Brook Board of Education on finance and personnel matters, including the timeline for the annual audit, the 2025–26 budget build and several personnel changes.
The business administrator said auditors will complete the annual audit in the next couple of weeks and that the audit presentation is expected at the February meeting. He added that the district’s 2025–26 budget build is underway.
Mr. Laurentino reviewed personnel items, including a medical/maternity leave for a paraprofessional reassignment, rescission of an employee who never started, and a potential addition of a part-time evening custodian pending a pre-meeting interview. He also noted mandated items such as the public agency compliance officer designation and corrected entries on personnel lists.
Mr. Laurentino said the New Jersey minimum wage changed "from $15.13 to $15.49 cents effective January 2nd," and that the increase is reflected in personnel item #48.
No votes were recorded on budget or personnel items during the public portion of the meeting; the board will consider routine personnel approvals at the upcoming meeting.
