Board discusses security upgrades tied to COPS grant and student safety reporting

The business administrator said the district is working on quotes to integrate door access controls, intercom systems and guest-management functions as part of a proposed project tied to the Fiscal Year 2024 COPS School Violence Prevention Program grant. He said staff are collecting quotes and hope to have a recommendation at Wednesday’s meeting; if timing is tight the item could move to February.
Separately, administrators noted the district must submit student safety data for reporting period one and will comply with the mandated submission. Board members also referenced required twice-yearly HIP insurance statements for the district’s power professionals.
No contract awards or grant approvals were made during the public session; board discussion consisted of staff briefings and scheduling for further review.
