City Manager Jon Schneider briefed the Newaygo City Planning Commission Aug. 7 on several near-term public works and community projects.
Schneider said striping is scheduled in the north and south parking lots and around City Hall. He reported the M82 Lift Station upgrade is nearly complete. Schneider described potential new sidewalks and pedestrian walk improvements in various parts of the city and noted ongoing sidewalk repairs, specifically citing work in front of Newaygo Brewery.
He also said a bid has been awarded for the expansion of the Social District Project in the south parking lot and that construction for that expansion is expected to start this fall. Schneider added that he had submitted a grant application to support the Townsquare/Pocket Park project; the minutes do not specify the funder, grant amount or timeline for award.
No formal votes or policy actions were taken on these project updates at the meeting; they were presented as status reports. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
