Newaygo Public Schools board approves multiple hires, budgets, camps and millage request

At its May 18 meeting the Newaygo Public School District board unanimously approved several personnel hires, adopted regional and district budget items, approved summer camp proposals including an overnight girls basketball camp, and filed the 2026 millage request form L-4029.
The Newaygo Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a slate of personnel hires, budget items and summer camp proposals during its regular meeting on May 18, 2026 at the Newaygo High School Library.
In personnel actions recommended by the administration, the board approved hiring Georgia Wiseman as a high school English teacher; Alicia Foote and Rebecca Campbell as elementary aides; Jeremiah Brown as Business Manager; and Ashley Long as the summer special education support teacher. Each hire passed on a 7-0 vote. Motions were recorded with Thomas Frisbie, Jami Schultz, Bruce Gracik, John Bull, Sara Rivera-Cronk and Mary Spicer participating in the approvals.
The board also approved the NCRESA (Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency) 2026–2027 general fund budget on a 7-0 vote and approved the district’s 2026 Summer Tax Rate Request (form L-4029) as recommended by the administration. The board recorded unanimous votes on both items.
On extracurricular programming, the board approved summer cheer and volleyball camp proposals and separately approved an overnight Girls Basketball Camp set for June 15–17. All camp approvals were unanimous.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda (April 20, 2026 minutes; monthly trial balances; accounts payable). The board amended and adopted the agenda at the start of the meeting to add the overnight girls basketball camp as Item #8‑D before taking action.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 7:29 p.m.; the motion carried 7-0.
Actions recorded in the meeting minutes included motions to amend and approve the agenda, approve the consent agenda, approve each personnel hire listed above, adopt the NCRESA budget, file the L-4029 millage request, and approve the summer camp proposals.
