The Salem County Special Services and Vocational Technical School District Board on April 29 approved a suite of purchases and contracts required for district operations and events.
Procurements approved included:
• A 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD from Porter Chevrolet for $56,696 to replace a 2002 GMC Sierra; the business administrator stated three quotes were obtained. When board member James Davis asked, the business administrator confirmed this was the lowest quote. (Board recommendation recorded.)
• A DocuWare Cloud subscription renewal and support package with KDI Office Technology for $4,776 for June 22, 2025–June 21, 2026.
• A rental agreement with Masso’s Event Rentals for a stage, skirting and chairs for the SCVTS 2025 graduation ceremony at $6,858.30.
• A short-term rental of an AC/DC Electrical Trainer from PierCetek, LLC for the Adult Post Secondary Program ($250).
• A contract with Harris Education - Realtime for $30,533.11 (service period 7/1/25–6/30/26).
• Multiple contracts with Metropolitan Contract Carpets for facility work: Salem campus $116,020 and several Daretown floor/hallway items (listed in the minutes totaling $22,080).
The business administrator presented these items and the board recorded votes approving the listed contracts. The minutes capture a brief procurement exchange during which a board member asked whether the vehicle purchase represented the lowest bid and the business administrator replied affirmatively.
Why it matters: These approvals commit district funds to operations, technology, graduation logistics, facilities upgrades and outsourced services; several line items are material to the district’s near-term budget implementation.
Next steps: Contracts will proceed according to their start dates and terms; the Harris Education contract is scheduled to begin July 1, 2025.
