Northport board authorizes branding work, amends vacancy policy and adopts 100% summer tax levy

The Northport Public School Board on Oct. 13 approved several administrative and fiscal items, voting unanimously on contract authorizations, a policy amendment and a summer tax resolution.
On a 7–0 vote the board authorized the superintendent to enter into a services agreement for custom research and branding services not to exceed $70,000. Dan Duffiney moved the motion and Jamie Scripps seconded it. During discussion, board member Ryan Blessing asked about long-term benefits; Superintendent Neil Wetherbee said the work will provide baseline data and insight into family and taxpayer priorities.
The board also approved an amendment to Policy 0142.5 governing the filling of a board vacancy (motion by Jamie Scripps, seconded by Dan Duffiney), and adopted the annual summer tax resolution imposing a 100% summer tax levy (motion by Tom Wetherbee, seconded by Danielle Percy). All motions carried 7–0.
The consent agenda passed by unanimous consent and included approval of the Sept. 8, 2025 minutes, bills for payment totaling $112,291.79, the resignation of Dipak Adhikari effective Oct. 25, 2025, and a minor update to Policy 0115 removing an old P.O. Box from the official address.
