Northport Public School District board unanimously elects officers, sets meeting schedule

At its Jan. 12, 2026 organizational meeting, the Northport Public School District Board of Education unanimously elected Ben Purdy as president, Ryan Blessing as vice president, Danielle Percy as secretary and Daniel K. Duffiney as treasurer.

A quorum of seven members—Ben P. Purdy; Jamie Scripps; Danielle Percy; Daniel K. Duffiney; Thomas M. Wetherbee; Ryan Blessing; and Benjamin Hale—were present. Past Board President Ben Purdy called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

The board moved through officer nominations by roll call. Tom Wetherbee moved to open nominations for president; Ryan Blessing seconded motions to nominate and support procedural steps. Tom Wetherbee nominated Ben Purdy for president; the motion to elect Purdy carried on a recorded roll-call vote, with all seven members voting aye.

Nominations for vice-president yielded nominations for Benjamin Hale and Ryan Blessing; after closing nominations the board elected Ryan Blessing as vice-president on a unanimous vote. For secretary, Danielle Percy was nominated and elected unanimously. For treasurer, Daniel K. Duffiney was nominated and elected unanimously.

The board also approved a motion that regular meetings be held at 5:30 p.m. in room 300 at Northport Public School on the second Monday of each month; that motion passed 7-0. The minutes record no public comments for the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 5:43 p.m.
