Kinder officials report progress on wastewater, drainage and bridge projects; council OKs disaster-debris agreement

C.W. Roland of Pan American Engineers reported work continuing on the town's wastewater treatment plant project and described progress on a Louisiana Watershed Initiative grant intended to improve drainage in the Nixon Addition. Roland said he and Public Works Superintendent Eric Fontenot also discussed pursuing grants that could be used to upgrade the town's gas system.
Jacob Dillehay of the Allen Parish Police Jury provided an update on the Park Road bridge project earlier in the meeting.
Public Works Superintendent Eric Fontenot summarized recent maintenance work, including responses to water leaks and culvert washouts across town.
Separately, the council adopted Resolution No. 2024-10 authorizing the mayor to enter a joint-service agreement to allow the Town of Kinder to participate in the Allen Parish Police Jury's standby debris-hauling and monitoring contracts during future natural disasters. That resolution was approved unanimously, 5-0.
No schedule, cost estimates, or specific grant award amounts for the wastewater or drainage projects were read into the council record during the meeting; staff indicated grant research and discussions are ongoing.
