During the public comment period at the Nov. 10 Northport Public School Board meeting, Laura Cavendish, representing the PTO, described successful recent activities—a clothing drive, cooking club and Halloween events—and mentioned a potential movie night in December.
Separately, Kali Dignan commended the inclusion of native foods in the district menu and praised AP science outreach by Mrs. Conley, then expressed opposition to district spending on a Hanover Research project. The minutes record no response to Dignan's concern during the meeting; Board member Benjamin Hale requested that the board be provided the framework for the Hanover Research project for review.
President Ben Purdy also reminded members that superintendent and certified-staff contract negotiations are due by June 30 and suggested beginning negotiations early. No formal action on Hanover Research spending was recorded; the board asked for further documentation.
