Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine told the NICE Community School District Board on Feb. 17 that the Aspen Ridge School Sinking Fund project remains under development and that district leaders are considering a visit from Northern Michigan University officials to evaluate the feasibility of offering a science course on site.
DeAugustine presented the update as part of routine administrative reports and described the visit as exploratory; the minutes indicate the discussion is preliminary and no formal agreement or timeline was reported. The Aspen Ridge sinking fund balance was listed in the treasurer’s report as $467,216.51 as of Jan. 31, 2025.
Board members did not take formal action on program changes related to the NMU outreach at this meeting. Future steps would depend on results of the exploratory meeting and any proposals subsequently brought to the board for approval.
