City Council reappoints multiple board members, approves paving manifests and extends tax payment deadline

The City Council approved a bundle of routine administrative actions Tuesday, reappointing multiple residents to city boards and committees, authorizing two payment manifests that included funding for road paving, and extending the winter property tax payment deadline to Feb. 28, 2025.

Council members moved through a series of reappointments for advisory boards and commissions. Council member Dan announced that Steve Ortman and Tor Norman were reappointed to the Downtown Development Authority for four-year terms expiring December 2028. The council approved the Parks and Recreation Committee reappointments of John Beck and Lisa Weiss (terms expiring December 2027) and reappointed Leonard Beeta to the Planning Commission for a three-year term expiring December 2027. The council also reappointed Leonard Beeta to the Zoning Board of Appeals and approved three museum board reappointments for three-year terms expiring December 2027; the transcript lists those museum-board names as “Mary K,” “Eving Bill” and “Lindley,” but the spelling and formatting in the record are unclear.

Council members approved manifest number 2024-23 in the amount of $83,400; the meeting record identified that manifest funds were related to paving roads. The council voted to approve both manifests with unanimous "yes" votes.

City Manager Dan introduced the annual extension of the winter real and personal property tax payment deadline, saying the extension is a recurring practice: “we've done this every year,” he said. The council moved to extend the payment deadline to Feb. 28, 2025, and the motion passed unanimously.

During the closing portion of the meeting, council members exchanged holiday greetings, thanked volunteers for their work on community events (notably the Dec. 6 "Christmas in Norway" activities), and reminded residents that City Hall will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. With no further business, a motion to adjourn passed unanimously.
