Seaside Heights board approves personnel moves, tuition contracts and financial reports

At its Dec. 1 meeting the Seaside Heights Board of Education approved personnel actions (including the resignation of physical education teacher Thomas Koenig effective Jan. 5, 2026), approved the November bills list of $175,802.29, payrolls, transportation jointures and tuition contracts for the 2025-26 year, and renewed participation in the Central Jersey Health Insurance Fund.
The Seaside Heights Board of Education on Dec. 1 approved routine personnel, tuition and finance items, including the acceptance of the resignation of physical education teacher Thomas Koenig effective Jan. 5, 2026, and the appointment of multiple substitutes for the 2025-26 school year.
The board adopted the Superintendent's recommended personnel and other administrative items on a roll-call vote after motions by James Boyd and seconds by Jessica Richardson. The board recorded zero Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying incidents and zero suspensions for the period Oct. 24'1 Dec. 1, 2025.
Financial approvals: The board approved minutes from the Oct. 23, 2025 meeting; the November bills list totaling $175,802.29; bi-monthly payroll approvals of $146,787.66 (Oct. 15 period) and $155,964.56 (Oct. 30 period); and appropriation transfers for October 2025. The Board Secretary certified financial reports under N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11(c)4 and the Treasurer's Report was accepted as in agreement with the Secretary's report.
Tuition and transportation: The board approved tuition contracts for the 2025-26 year, including arrangements with Toms River Regional School District (annual tuition listed in the minutes as $28,123; the minutes also list a "Total Cost" of $28,213 for that contract, an internal discrepancy noted in the record), Lavallette Board of Education ($27,135), and a Seaside Heights contract sending a student to Toms River ($36,651). The board also approved transportation jointures with MOESC with per-diem rates shown in the minutes.
Insurance and other items: The board approved participation in and renewal of membership in the Central Jersey Health Insurance Fund, including an indemnity and trust agreement.
Superintendent's report and school operations: Superintendent Dr. James Roselli reported that the first marking period concluded, report cards were distributed and parent/teacher conferences were held in late November. He also reported a school bus evacuation drill at Hugh J. Boyd, Jr. Elementary School on Oct. 27, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. and encouraged the community to follow the Seaside Heights School District Facebook page for updates.
Next meeting: The board noted its reorganizational meeting is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2026; the board is considering moving regular meetings from Mondays to Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. to avoid conflicts with other town functions.
