Seaside Park council defers library proclamation, honors retiring police lieutenant

The council said it would read the proclamation for Friends of the Library at the regular meeting because the expected representative (Sloan Boyce, librarian) had not yet arrived. The town marked the Ocean County Library’s 100th anniversary and the Upper Shores Library’s 30th anniversary and affirmed participation in the national observance.
The council also recorded that a retirement ceremony took place Oct. 1 for Lieutenant Michael Confederac, who the mayor described as a Seaside Park native and a police officer with more than 29 years of service. The governing body offered thanks to the police department for organizing the ceremony and presented a proclamation honoring the lieutenant.
These were informational items on the work-session agenda and required no further council action.
The proclamation will be read into the record at the regular meeting; the retirement recognition stands as presented.
