Council clears first reading for downtown mural; public hearing set for Sept. 10

Newberry City Council on Aug. 13 approved first reading of Ordinance #2024-1018 to authorize a mural on the west-facing wall at the corner of Lindsay Street and Main Street at the request of Blue Magnolia.
The Architectural Review Board reviewed and approved the mural design at its July 18, 2024 meeting, and council members moved and seconded approval of first reading during the Aug. 13 session. Council set a public hearing for Sept. 10, 2024 to collect public comment before final action.
The minutes record that the motion to approve first reading carried unanimously; no substantive objections or amendments to the design were recorded in the council minutes.
