The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors voted June 29 to adopt a FY26 budget amendment to pay for a replacement sheriff patrol vehicle and related equipment after a county vehicle was recently totaled. The amendment was introduced to replace a patrol vehicle and equipment that the county reported as totaled. Meeting materials and staff review showed $100,000 allocated on the FY26 amendment schedule to the County Sheriff line to cover the cost. The board adopted Appropriation Resolution #26.234, which cites Iowa Code Section 331.434 and Section 331.437 and sets reporting and lapse rules for appropriations.
The vote to adopt the appropriation resolution was recorded as Keatley—aye; Byrnes—aye; Clark—aye. Earlier in the meeting Supervisors Dennis Keatley and Dan Byrnes carried routine business including approval of the agenda and minutes. Auditor Denise Beyer and County Engineer Brian Ridenour were present for staff updates and to answer questions.
The resolution states that appropriations lapse at the close of business on June 30, 2026, and directs the auditor to establish and report separate accounts for each appropriation during the 2025/2026 year. No public comment was recorded during the hearing.
