The Shrewsbury Borough School District Board of Education approved several personnel items at its Oct. 16 meeting, including a temporary delegation of authority, mentor stipends, a task force appointment and an extension of a long-term leave replacement.
By resolution, the board authorized the superintendent to take necessary actions to protect district interests between the date the resolution was adopted and the next regular board meeting, subject to consultation with district officials and the board president and subject to ratification at the Nov. 20 meeting. The resolution explicitly covered hiring and employment actions taken under the superintendent’s jurisdiction.
The board also approved mentor assignments: Kathleen Fitzpatrick and Staci Fox to serve as mentors for Fiona Potter at $275 each, paid via payroll deduction. Darianne Mastricola was approved to serve on the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect Subcommittee on the Safety of Children for the 2024–2025 school year.
Separately, the board approved an extension of Carey Abeleda as the long-term leave replacement for Anne Frankel at a BA/Step 1 rate of $56,730 (.60 FTE), prorated for service from Dec. 1, 2024 through May 15, 2025.
All personnel motions were included in the personnel committee’s recommendations and were approved as part of the agenda motions recorded in the minutes.
