Camp Verde council backs letter supporting Clarkdale’s Opportunity Zone 2.0 submission

Mayor Marie Moore and a six-member quorum of the Camp Verde Town Council approved a letter of support for the Town of Clarkdale’s Opportunity Zone 2.0 tract submission to the Arizona Commerce Authority during a June 10 special session.

Town Manager Miranda Fisher presented the proposed letter, saying the Town’s support for Clarkdale — and potentially the City of Cottonwood — "reflects the Town's commitment to regional collaboration and fostering strong partnerships throughout the Verde Valley," according to the meeting minutes. Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier moved to approve the letter and Councilor Patricia Seybold seconded. Roll call recorded aye votes from Councilors Brian Bolton, Patricia Seybold, Robert Foreman, Robin Godwin, Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier and Mayor Marie Moore; Councilor Jessie Murdock was recorded absent. The motion carried 6–0.

The action authorizes the Town Manager to deliver the approved letter of support to the Arizona Commerce Authority on behalf of the Town of Camp Verde and to execute a comparable letter for Cottonwood if that city requests support. The minutes do not specify the text of the letter, the tract identifiers submitted by Clarkdale, or any direct fiscal commitments by Camp Verde.
