Seaside Heights, N.J. — The Seaside Heights Board of Education on April 30 adopted its final 2026–2027 budget totaling $6,392,006, approving the plan by a unanimous 5–0 roll-call vote.
The budget lists $5,322,792 in General Fund expenditures and $1,069,214 in Special Revenue for a combined total of $6,392,006. Anticipated revenues total $1,592,679, leaving $4,799,327 to be raised in local taxes. The board also included a $97,080 adjustment to cover increased health benefit premiums and reaffirmed a $10,000 travel-authorization cap for the year, with $0 expended to date.
"It is always a challenge to stay within a budget with exploding health care and utility costs, and I commend Tyler Verga and everyone else here at Hugh J. Boyd who helped prepare this budget," Board President Dr. Marko said during his report.
The budget was presented under a public hearing; no members of the public offered comment. Board members voted on the final budget after it had been tentatively approved by the Executive County Superintendent on April 2 and advertised on the district website on April 3.
The board adopted the resolution formally acknowledging that the tentative budget had previously been approved and that the final budget includes the health-benefits increase. The adoption was recorded as: Motion by Ms. Franciosi, second by Ms. Richardson; roll-call vote — Ms. Franciosi Yes, Ms. Richardson Yes, Mr. Hershey Yes, Mr. Wright Yes, Dr. Marko Yes.
The board also took procedural action to adjourn the public hearing on the budget following the vote. The district will proceed under the adopted spending plan for the 2026–2027 school year.
