At the March 7 meeting, Suzy Stibor presented to the Rock County Board of Commissioners about pursuing designation as a creative district. Stibor said the designation carries potential funding of roughly $20,000 spread over five years to support arts activities.
Commissioner Faye Smith volunteered to draft a letter of support for the designation. Separately, M. Davis and A. Grant discussed a Community Outreach Day set for April 12, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to assist the Historical Society in preparing for its April 26 car show; volunteers are asked to help with mowing, cleaning and painting and lunch will be provided.
The board did not take formal action to apply for creative district status at the March 7 meeting; the minutes record willingness by a commissioner to provide a support letter and at least one community event scheduled to mobilize volunteers.
