Ridgetop seeks state grant to build 600–800-foot trail to Ridgetop Station Park

Mayor Tim Shaw said at the March 17 Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting that the city plans to apply to the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation for a project that “would develop 600-800 linear feet of a 10-foot-wide asphalt trail and would provide a greenway entrance to Ridgetop Station Park from Lynn Circle.” The project as presented would include one bridge crossing and the trail would be lined with white picket fencing. A project schedule was provided to attendees.

Shaw said the grant would improve pedestrian and bicycle access between the Lynn Circle residential area and Ridgetop Station Park and would “encourage increased physical activity such as walking, jogging, and cycling for residents of all ages and encourage greater utilization of Ridgetop Station Park amenities by nearby residents.” He thanked Chief Reasoner and volunteer firefighters for helping to complete surveys needed to submit the application on a tight time frame.
