Florence accepts two police resignations, hires new patrolman pending checks

On recommendation of Chief Burns, the Board in executive session voted to accept the resignation of Officer Cody Parfait effective July 9, 2025. A second motion accepted the resignation of Officer David Dear effective July 9, 2025. Both motions carried with recorded ‘‘Aye’’ votes by Aldermen John Banks, Brian Grantham, Mason Herrin, Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk as noted in the minutes.
Also on Chief Burns’s recommendation, the board voted in executive session to hire Canyon Bilbro as a full‑time patrolman at $21.06 per hour with a start date of July 17, 2025, contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug and alcohol testing. The recorded votes for the hire were unanimous where shown in the minutes.
