On Sept. 2 the Florence Mayor and Board authorized the city engineer to begin the design phase for the Hwy. 49 sewer project.
Alderman John Banks moved and Alderman Brent Sistrunk seconded a motion, on recommendation of City Engineer Tim Parker, to authorize and direct Engineering Service to begin the project design; the motion passed unanimously. The board recorded a second, similar authorization later in the meeting that also passed unanimously.
The meeting minutes do not specify a design contract value, funding source, or project timeline; the board directed Engineering Service/City Engineer Tim Parker to start the design work. Any procurement, contract award, or construction funding steps would require future board action.
The authorization was made as part of routine new business and followed the public hearing on the proposed budget and tax levies.
