Florence board adopts 31.2-mill tax levy for FY2026

Alderman Brian Grantham moved to adopt the resolution and Alderman Kyle Martin seconded. The motion carried with an aye vote recorded from each alderman present: Alderman John Banks, Alderman Brian Grantham, Alderman Mason Herrin, Alderman Kyle Martin and Alderman Brent Sistrunk.
The resolution states that 14.28% of the 31.2 mills will be allocated for debt service. The board did not specify changes to individual property classifications or present an itemized rate schedule in the meeting minutes; those details are part of the adopted resolution attached to the minutes.
The tax levy covers the city's general fund for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2025. No public comments were offered during the preceding public hearing on the proposed budget and tax levies; Mayor Trey Gunn closed the hearing after no speakers came forward.
The board adopted the levy as part of its regular meeting and proceeded to routine approvals before adjourning at 7:05 p.m.
