Troy finance committee approves a slate of ordinances and resolutions unanimously

The Troy City Council finance committee met Thursday, Jan. 23, and unanimously approved a package of ordinances and resolutions ranging from surplus-property sales to grant acceptances and appointments.
Among the measures adopted were an ordinance declaring certain city-owned personal property as surplus and directing the city controller to sell or dispose of it; an ordinance approving a tax certiorari settlement involving Rite Aid Corporation; an ordinance amending the 2025 special revenue fund to accept U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant funds; and an ordinance to accept New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services funding for police equipment. Each passed with no recorded opposition.
The council also approved a series of resolutions on administrative and intermunicipal matters, including: authorization to sell a parcel at 9 Hills Landing (see separate article), an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Colonie for tactical police services, an appointment of Commissioners of Deeds, a proclamation designating February 2025 as Black History Month, and several other routine items. All votes were recorded as adopted unanimously.
Procedural notes: motions were moved and seconded from the floor and, where discussion occurred, staff and councilmembers addressed clarifying questions before votes. No public commenters spoke on agenda items during the meeting.
The committee adjourned after welcoming the city's new controller and closing the public forum.
