Pittsfield trustees unanimously approve $120,000 in ARPA contract amendments for two housing projects

On Feb. 25 the Pittsfield City Affordable Housing Trust voted unanimously to amend two existing contracts to add additional American Rescue Plan Act funds to ongoing projects.
Vice Chair Justine Dodds moved to amend contracts to allocate $70,000 to Westside Legends for a project at 70 Dewey Ave and $50,000 to Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity for Curtis Terrace; Trustee Floriana FitzGerald seconded the motion and it passed without dissent. Trustees noted both projects were under contract before the ARPA eligibility deadline, which staff said made them eligible for the additional funds.
Dodds said she will work with Chair Michael McCarthy and the applicants to finalize contract amendments and directed staff to prepare the necessary paperwork. The board recorded a unanimous vote of four yes, zero no, with two members absent.
The action is recorded as an amendment to existing AHTF contracts; trustees did not change the material scope of the projects during the vote but authorized the additional ARPA funding to cover cost overruns identified by applicants. The trustees also approved the Jan. 21, 2026 minutes earlier in the meeting and adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
Next steps: staff will prepare and route contract-amendment documents for signatures and the Trust will monitor use of the funds as part of regular project reporting.
