Krotz Springs mayor and board adopt salary-schedule ordinance, agree to share Waterworks District 5 repair costs

The Town of Krotz Springs Mayor and Board of Aldermen on Sept. 9, 2025 adopted Ordinance No. 3 of 2025, an amendment to the town's job description and salary schedule, and voted to share half the cost of repairs requested for Waterworks District 5.
Mayor Carroll B. Snyder called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the clerk recorded Aldermen Craig Burghdoff, Larry Martinez, Nyssa Godwin and Keith Ardoin as present; Alderwoman Cindy Stelly was absent. On routine business the board unanimously approved the Aug. 12, 2025 meeting minutes, authorized payment of outstanding bills, and approved the financial statements and reconciliation worksheets.
Chief Susie Snyder provided a brief status report, saying that "all is good in town." Maintenance Supervisor Nina Snyder was noted as absent.
On personnel policy, the board voted to adopt Ordinance No. 3 of 2025, described in the meeting minutes as "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 2 OF 2011 JOB DESCRIPTION & SALARY SCHEDULE ADOPTED AS POLICY SEPTEMBER 9, 2025." Alderman Craig Burghdoff moved the ordinance and Alderman Larry Martinez seconded; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Aldermen Burghdoff, Martinez, Godwin and Ardoin recorded as voting "yea," no members recorded a "nay," and Alderman Cindy Stelly noted as absent.
During public comment, resident Woody Wiltz asked the board to repair and replace seven flush-outs on the Waterworks District 5 waterline, fix leaks on risers and to purchase two new flush-outs, and requested that the town share the cost. In response, Alderman Keith Ardoin moved, and Alderman Larry Martinez seconded, a motion for the town to pay 50% of the cost of the flush-out repairs, riser repairs and purchase of two new flush-outs. The board carried that motion by unanimous vote of members present.
The meeting record shows no other business. Announcements included a Blue Mass, Second Harvest distribution on Sept. 16–17 and a Senior Fall Gumbo event on Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. A motion to adjourn by Alderman Nyssa Godwin, seconded by Alderman Larry Martinez, was carried unanimously.
