Krotz Springs aldermen approve routine financial items, hear police update; demolition list put on hold

At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Krotz Springs board approved minutes, payment of outstanding bills, and financial reconciliations; adopted the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire; heard a police report about jail repairs and training; and learned that 13 properties slated for demolition are on hold pending succession actions.
During the Aug. 12 regular meeting the Krotz Springs Mayor and Board of Aldermen carried routine business by unanimous votes: approval of the July 8, 2025 minutes (motion by Keith Ardoin, seconded by Nyssa Godwin), authorization to pay outstanding bills (motion by Craig Burghdoff, seconded by Nyssa Godwin), and approval of financial statements and reconciliation worksheets (motion by Nyssa Godwin, seconded by Keith Ardoin).
The board also adopted the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire on a motion by Nyssa Godwin seconded by Larry Martinez. No public comment was recorded on these items.
Police Chief Susie Snyder reported that overall town operations were "all is good in town," but informed the board that jail toilets required repair after damage caused by a prisoner and that she will seek restitution to cover repair costs. Chief Snyder also reported that officer Dillon Porche has begun training at Carter Academy in Baton Rouge and that Logan Bates is expected to attend the academy after Porche completes training.
Under other business Mayor Carroll B. Snyder reported that Ronnie Ardoin received a letter from parish government regarding demolition of properties; 13 properties are on the parish list but are put on hold because Ronnie Ardoin cannot participate in succession actions until his succession is completed. Announcements included Second Harvest distribution on Aug. 16–17 and the Rockin on the River event on Sept. 13, 2025. The meeting was then adjourned on a motion recorded as moved by Cindy Stelly and seconded by Larry Martinez.
