The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Krotz Springs unanimously introduced two budget ordinances and set a June 25 special meeting to consider adopting them, after a presentation showing the town's general fund and overall net position were stable.
According to the financial schedule submitted by Dana Quebedeaux, CPA, and John S. Dowling, the town reported original budgeted revenues of $3,190,873, an amended total of $3,158,795, and a proposed total of $3,010,658. Original expenditures were $2,904,312, amended $2,849,377 and proposed $2,902,505; the fund balance/net position was reported as $8,354,766 (original), $8,309,874 (amended) and $8,418,027 (proposed).
The presentation concluded that the town is in a strong financial position. On a motion by Alderman Keith Ardoin, seconded by Alderman Craig Burghdoff, the council introduced Ordinance No. 1 of 2025, "An ordinance amending the operating budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025." The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Aldermen Craig Burghdoff, Larry Martinez, Cindy Stelly, Nyssa Godwin and Keith Ardoin voting "yea."
Alderman Larry Martinez moved and Alderman Keith Ardoin seconded the introduction of Ordinance No. 2 of 2025, "An ordinance adopting the operating budget of revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026." That motion also passed unanimously on roll-call.
The council approved scheduling a Special Meeting to adopt both ordinances on June 25, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Town Hall, with a public hearing at 11:45 a.m. No public comment was recorded at the June 11 meeting.
The ordinances remain in the introduction stage until the special meeting and any public hearing are completed.
