Renick R-V board awards fence contract, approves handbooks and moves into closed session

The Renick R-V Board of Education met in regular session on June 18, 2025, and approved a series of routine items including a contract award for a playground fence and updates to student and personnel handbooks.
Superintendent Jeana Calloway-Hodson presented two bids for a playground fence, from Lowe's and James Fencing. Tyler Cleeton moved to contract with James Fencing; Michael McKeown seconded and the motion carried 6–0. The board also approved the district's 2025–26 Professional Development Plan (moved by Brenda Hubert, seconded by Tyler Cleeton) and adopted handbook updates for the Tiny Rams program and the Substitute handbook (moved by Brenda Hubert, seconded by Richelle Gobel); each motion carried 6–0.
In finance-related actions, the board voted 6–0 to "zero out" the Teachers Fund. Later in the meeting the board voted 5–1 to adopt the 2025–26 budget (see separate coverage). The minutes note there will be no July board meeting and set the next meeting for August 12, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
Under communications the minutes record a request from the family of Jerrod Downing to plant a memorial tree on school grounds; Superintendent Calloway-Hodson said she will check for any stipulations. Toward the end of the meeting Richelle Gobel moved the board into closed session at 6:32 p.m. under Sec. 610.021 RSMo subsection 3 (personnel); the roll call recorded six "yes" votes. The board left closed session at 6:35 p.m. and adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
