The Borough of Old Tappan opened a public hearing on Feb. 3 on the proposed Oak Park House, a project using Green Acres funding. Council invited public comment and answered resident questions about the design, accessibility and site footprint.
A resident who identified himself for the record (address on Lane) asked whether the building will match the drawings discussed at previous meetings. Borough staff responded that the proposed structure will be “very, very similar” and will largely occupy the same footprint as earlier plans, with a front porch, accessible restrooms and a small office/storage area. Officials noted Green Acres requirements limit private exclusive use and explained that the site was obtained with Green Acres funding and must remain accessible to the public.
Council opened the floor for additional comments and, seeing none, closed public comment and moved on with the agenda. The hearing record will remain open through the formal notice period and the borough will follow Green Acres public-notice requirements before any final action is taken.
