Colleen Thompson, director of the Plympton Council on Aging, told the board on March 10 that the COA will review its Dial‑a‑Ride contract with the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) ahead of a June 2026 renewal and will assess whether to remain in the program or return to using a town employee driver. Thompson presented the director’s report and outlined administrative steps to support that review.
The decision matters because transit options affect how older residents access services and appointments. Thompson said she has prepared a spreadsheet of COA warrants to simplify the monthly reports required by the Town Accountant and the quarterly reconciliations required by the Town Auditor, measures she framed as part of ensuring accurate budgeting during any contract decision.
Thompson also said the town has adopted a new website format and that the COA page needs updating; she is working on the page and will follow up with town clerk Tara Shaw about a proposed COA logo. The transportation contract and website work were presented as staff tasks to be completed and returned to the board for discussion prior to the contract renewal date.
No formal motion or vote on the transit contract was recorded at the meeting. The board did record that the February 10, 2026 minutes were approved as amended. The COA’s next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., at which staff are expected to report progress on the contract review and website update.
