Harrison Township Board votes 9-0 to authorize application to increase expenditures

The Harrison Township Board of Education voted 9-0 on April 7, 2025, to approve a resolution authorizing the district to submit an application to increase expenditures, the board record shows. The special meeting was held at Pleasant Valley School and was called to order by Board President Stacey Muscarella at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Missy Peretti, Superintendent of Schools, presented an overview of the application process and described what the district was seeking from the expenditure increase. "Dr. Peretti thanked the Board for attending tonight and proceeded to give an overview of the application process and what the district was applying for," the minutes state.

Board members asked clarifying questions before the vote. President Stacey Muscarella and board member John Cavanaugh questioned details of technology appropriations, and board member Tim Bast asked whether hiring an in-house maintenance employee would produce savings. "Mrs. Kendrick added that having someone in-house would help to protect the district’s investments," the record notes.

Walter Bright moved to approve the finance resolution and Todd Baron seconded. The motion carried by roll call vote, 9-0.

The meeting agenda listed no items under new or old business, and no members of the public spoke during either public-comment period. With no further business, the board adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
