Harrison Township board accepts retirements and resignations, approves hires and votes to terminate staff after executive session

The board accepted the retirement of Transportation Aide Terry Ballinger effective May 29, 2025, and accepted resignations from Alyssa Marsella (Special Education Aide, effective June 14, 2025), Mary Garwood (School Nurse at Pleasant Valley School, effective July 31, 2025), Karen Mohrman (Bus Driver, effective July 1, 2025) and Susan Jones (Part‑time Nurse’s Aide, effective July 18, 2025). Dr. Peretti recognized Mary Garwood for 15 years of service and wished those leaving well.
The board approved the employment of Nicolette Taglienti (long‑term substitute) as fourth‑grade classroom teacher at Pleasant Valley School, effective Sept. 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, at the BA Step 1 salary schedule. The board also retroactively approved Ralph Clark as a substitute summer custodian (effective June 3, 2025) and approved the slate of substitutes for teachers, nurses, aides, drivers and custodians for 2025‑26 pending required clearances. Special Education ESY aides Jennifer Marks and Tydejah Roberts were approved at $18.50 per hour for ESY assignments.
After recessing into executive session at 7:27 p.m. and returning at 8:20 p.m., the board approved the termination of the employment of the staff member identified in the minutes as “15565,” effective June 16, 2025 (motion by Mrs. Williams; second by Mrs. Coslop; roll call 9‑0). The board also approved unrepresented staff salaries for the 2025‑26 school year as discussed in executive session (motion by Mrs. Williams; second by Mr. Bright; roll call 9‑0).
Per the meeting opening statement, the board indicated that executive session results would be made public at a later date as appropriate; the minutes record the actions but do not provide additional public detail about the grounds for the termination.
