Council hears calls to reduce Bike Fest fees amid concerns about missing parking revenue

Councilwoman Jacqueline Gore urged the Atlantic Beach Town Council on March 2, 2026 to roll back recently increased Bike Fest fees for vendors and property owners, saying the town risks pricing out vendors and undermining an event that historically benefited the community.
Gore said Bike Fest was "our festival" and argued fees last year had been too high, citing a vendor count of at least 73 and an estimated vendor revenue "around $58,000." She also questioned why the town reported only $3,000 in parking receipts for the event and urged improvements to accounting and controls for vendor and parking revenue.
Town Manager Adrian Jones confirmed the Bike Fest committee meets Wednesday and said the administrative team will accept the committee's recommendations and return them to council. Councilwoman Carla Taylor said the committee will make a recommendation to the council and the council will decide whether to amend fees.
Council did not change fees at the March 2 meeting; staff said the Bike Fest committee will review costs and accounting practices before the council's next meeting.
