Lamparter said the Department of Justice will audit municipal police departments every two years and will request monthly statistics on use of force and pursuits that must be included in security reports. He also discussed options to obtain liability insurance for constables using available funds in the State Accident Fund and the town's Insurance Reserve Fund and said the department expects grant funding next year as well as additional morale funds from the Solicitor’s Intervention Program.
Lamparter's report was presented early in the meeting; council members did not record a formal vote on any related action during the session. The chief and staff will pursue insurance procurement and grant applications as described.
