Harrison Township Board approves multiple personnel moves, hires and leaves including new special education supervisor

The Harrison Township Board of Education approved multiple personnel actions at its Sept. 22, 2025 meeting, including leaves of absence, resignations, retirements and new hires.
The board authorized the superintendent to hire interim replacements between meetings when necessary. It approved a 12‑week FMLA leave for Sixth Grade Teacher Michael Brodzik beginning Jan. 5, 2026, accepted the resignation of part‑time special education aide Lisa Pomante effective Aug. 28, 2025, and accepted the retirement of part‑time instructional aide Martina Fuller effective June 30, 2025. The board also approved a medical leave for bus driver Peter Giancola beginning Sept. 26, 2025 (using 21 sick days) and accepted the withdrawal of employment by custodian Caleb Brooks effective Aug. 25, 2025.
Among hires, the board approved the employment of Kristi Gimpel of Wenonah as full‑time Special Education Supervisor effective Dec. 1, 2025, at a salary established at $105,000 (pro‑rated), pending required clearances. The board approved David Gaeta as a full‑time maintenance worker/maintenance mechanic at $65,000 (pro‑rated); part‑time instructional aide Lauren Gress; part‑time special education aide Shaniya Saxton; and Bridget Stankowski’s reassignment from HTS receptionist to a 10‑month District Data Analysis Specialist at a pro‑rated salary of $42,500. The approvals were made with the notation that employment is contingent on receipt of required criminal‑history clearances and certification when applicable.
Board member Colleen Kendrick asked whether the Special Education Supervisor position was funded by the extra money from the tax levy; Superintendent Missy Peretti replied that it was not and said the position will be funded by reallocating funds from positions that were no longer needed. The personnel slate (items 1–16) passed by roll call, 9‑0.
The board also approved after‑school advisors and stipend positions for the 2025–2026 school year; stipends and advisor pay will be determined in accordance with the district’s collective‑bargaining agreement.
